What our families are saying…

My three-year-old son Henry has attended Heritage Park Preschool (now Ski Town ELC) since the start of the 2021-2022
school year. Henry was previously enrolled in one other preschool before Heritage Park and while he
enjoyed his friends and the activities, he didn’t necessarily thrive at the school as the care taken wasn’t
fully and specifically tailored to him by way of consistent parent/teacher communication and
demonstrable teacher investment in the children.
Henry has absolutely thrived at Heritage Park since starting. All the teachers and the Director are so very
attentive to Henry, as I am sure they are to the other students, but the impact on my son has been
nothing short of beautiful. The teachers have initiated many different conversations in order to ensure
we are all working together and harmoniously to create conducive environments that help Henry thrive
in the areas he struggles with, much as all children have their own specific nuances. From
communication regarding language used in all of Henry’s environments to ensure a consistent message
across the board to recommendations for supplemental items to help such as countdown timers geared
towards toddlers to keep him engaged and actively participating in staying on schedule. The teachers
also take a very real-world approach to handling some of the behaviors that need buttoning up – for
example, following through on the concept of unexpected behavior will bring undesirable
consequences.
Henry has blossomed in his time there. He truly looks forward to and enjoys going to school, seeing his
teachers and his friends, and playing and learning. As a parent, I love the communication from the
school about all the happenings as well as the app they utilize often to keep us informed about our kids’
day including pictures and videos of playing, learning, and their accomplishments that the kids are
obviously so very proud of. Henry loves building and is always building different structures at school!
Melinda, the Director, has been instrumental in the administration side of the school and all items that
come along with. She is always very communicative, has a demonstrable passion for the school and
children, and is always more than happy to provide any assistance needed with tuition and funding
matters. She truly goes above and beyond for everyone, all the time. Melinda and the teachers have
also been so wonderful at helping our blended family be successful and all actively informed. As an
example, we have always received two copies of newsletters and calendars which has been
tremendously helpful.
Childcare in Steamboat is difficult to come by, especially such great care as is provided by Heritage Park.
I had long wanted to enroll both of my children in the school and am grateful we were able to secure a
place for Henry. I would whole-heartedly recommend Heritage Park Preschool to anyone and everyone.
— Selena Hunter
Living in Steamboat is something our family absolutely cherishes but finding childcare can be a struggle for all families. Add in, having a child with special needs makes it extremely hard because you need a place that is not only capable of caring for our child, but also provides an inclusive and loving environment. Heritage Park (now Ski Town ELC) absolutely checked all those boxes for us.
Our child goes to a different school during the school year, but we needed a preschool setting for the summer that kept her engaged with peers, while gaining more skills. Our family found ourselves in a bind to find a center that wanted to care for her.
Heritage Park Preschool heard our situation and immediately reached out to helped us! They were nothing but accommodating throughout the transition and helped Reilly not only maintain her learned skills but also gain more!
Our child has SLC6A1 which is a rare genetic disorder. Some of her common symptoms of this disorder include debilitating seizures, intellectual disability, speech and developmental delays, and autism. Heritage stepped up to the plate to help Reilly and she has taken to each teacher and child as if she has been with them for years! They provided her with the medication she needed throughout the day and took the time to learn warning signs of her seizures and how to administer her rescue meds if needed. We are forever grateful to Heritage for creating a loving and safe environment as well as the accommodations they provided our child and her needs throughout each and everyday.
— Rebecca Cheesebro
Our family was a part of the Heritage Park Preschool family (now Ski Town ELC) for two full years.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the partnership, dedication and overwhelming community
of support and education they offer. Both of our children have been encouraged to
explore, try new things, create, learn, grow and much more. The school prides itself on
active play, lots of outdoor time and hands on learning. We know how critical, children
at a young age, are to receive a strong foundation during their formative years.
In addition, the use of the brightwheel app, along with consistent newsletters and
monthly calendar of activities allows for transparency and direct lines of communication.
The Director, Melinda is very flexible and always finds ways to connect with all families
so they feel heard, honored and supported. We have been so lucky!
Overall, our experience with Heritage Park has been wonderful and we have been very
satisfied. We highly recommend Heritage Park Preschool to any local family that is
looking for professionalism, open lines of communication, honesty, and a desire to help
and instruct students along their journey.
